Das Vesicularia montagnei 'Christmas Moss' (Weihnachtsbaummoos) aus dem Hause Tropica gehört zu den beliebtesten und schönsten Moosarten in der Aquaristik. Seinen Namen verdankt es der markanten, exakt verzweigten Wuchsform: Die einzelnen Triebe wachsen dicht gestuft nach unten und erinnern optisch stark an die Zweige eines Tannenbaums. Mit seiner tiefgrünen Farbe und der dichten Struktur setzt es wunderschöne, natürliche Akzente in jedem Aquarium.

Besonders in Garnelenaquarien und Zuchtbecken ist das Christmas Moos ein absolutes Must-have. Das feine Pflanzendickicht bietet frisch geschlüpften Junggarnelen erstklassige Versteckmöglichkeiten vor Fressfeinden. Zudem bietet die riesige Oberfläche des Mooses einen idealen Siedlungsraum für nützliche Mikroorganismen und Biofilme, welche von den Garnelen ununterbrochen und mit Vorliebe abgeweidet werden.

Dank seiner hervorragenden Haftwurzeln (Rhizoide) wächst das Moos im Laufe der Zeit fest an Steinen oder Wurzeln fest.

Placement & use in the aquarium

• Placement: Foreground (as moss carpet), midground (on hardscape) or background.
  
  
• Tying or gluing: Perfectly suited to be pushed into small crevices with tweezers, tied onto roots and stones or fixed with a special superglue.
  
  
• In-vitro preparation: Simply remove the moss from the cup, carefully rinse off the transparent nutrient gel under lukewarm tap water and divide the moss cushion into several small portions with scissors. It can then be planted immediately.
