Dwarf shrimp are often kept in so-called nano aquariums.
- 10 to 20 liters: This is the lower limit. It is technically possible, but requires a lot of finesse, as small volumes of water are more unstable (temperature and pollutants fluctuate more quickly).
30 liters: This is considered the "sweet spot" for beginners. It offers enough space for a stable group of 20 or more animals, and a biological balance is easier to maintain.
Bigger is always better: In 54-liter standard tanks, shrimp feel completely at home, and you can even keep them with small, peaceful fish.
Pro tip: The larger the water volume, the more forgiving the system is of minor care mistakes. If you have space, opt for the next size up if in doubt!
